Members with Master's Degrees in Music
The Appassionata String Quartet began over 14 years ago when a couple of friends came together to address the need for high quality and reliable ceremony music in the Chester County area. As students at the time at West Chester University’s Music School, they worked with some of the best musicians in the the area (WCU attracts students from all over the East Coast due to its excellence in music and teaching programs). While in a program with high standards, the group assembled the Principal Chairs of each section in the orchestra, the “best of the best”, to form what was at the time one of the most internationally recognized string quartets at the university.
Today, ASQ focuses on providing the highest quality of performance, sound, and experience for weddings, corporate events. They have worked with leading musicians in virtually every discipline to create memorable experiences, unique performances and professional recordings. What do you wear?
How much time do you need to set up?
We only need about 15 minutes to set up. We ask that armless chairs are provided. We will bring music stands.
When do you arrive to an event?
At least 30 minutes before our contracted playing start time.
How much room do you require?
Depending on the ensemble, we require enough room for a chair and a music stand for each player with sufficient “elbow room” to perform comfortably.
What if someone is sick or not able to play last minute?
We have a pool of great musicians we trust that we can call to sub.
What’s the next step?
Once you give me the necessary information for your event, I will mail you a contract which will need returned with a deposit of half the total amount owed to secure your date with us. We can then discuss details and music selections at your convenience.
My event is to take place outdoors. Is weather a concern?
Yes. Our instruments are delicate and worth thousands of dollars so we do need to take precautions of any weather conditions that may damage them. Please have a back up plan for in case of inclement weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures. It is best for our instruments to be between 65-85 degrees.
Appassionata was a delight to work with. Always prompt with responses to my inquiries and the music was great. I was uncertain about hiring a quartet through the internet but Appassionata met all my expectations and laid to rest any concerns. Highly recommend this group for their professionalism and friendliness.Jane W.
Joy was a pleasure to work with from the moment we booked her up until the big day. She was very responsive to all of our emails and worked hard to find music sheets for songs that we found on own and wanted played at our wedding. The music the was beautiful and provided such a special touch to our ceremony and cocktail hour. We had so many compliments from all of our friends and family about how beautiful the music was that Joy and her team put out.Josh
We absolutely loved having Appassionata String quartet at our wedding! They played while our guests arrived and during our ceremony. We live out of the state so all of my communication was completed through email with Joy. They showed up to our rural location on time and played beautifully during the ceremony!Abby
